As the gallery director and sales manager for a prominent fine art gallery in Charleston for nearly a decade, I met artists at all stages of their careers. While their talent was undeniable, many struggled with the business side of art. I saw an opportunity to fill a gap that extended beyond generic advice blogs. That’s why I created a consulting service tailored to help artists navigate the art market from a gallerist’s perspective.
- Why should I work with Legacy Art Management?
Legacy brings the knowledge, skill, and expertise to structure the business side of art, allowing you to focus on what you love most—creating. With over 25 years of experience in the art world as an archivist, collections manager, logistics specialist, web developer, marketing manager, sales consultant and gallery director, I’m here to share this experience with you to help you achieve success.
- What can I expect with our consulting sessions?
I want YOU to create the consulting session. Prior to scheduling, it's helpful for both of us for you to complete the Artist Questionnaire. Additionally, I encourage you to write down lots of questions. The more prepared you are, the more comprehensive our sessions will be. But don't worry, I will have plenty of questions for you that you may not have thought about.
- Will you sell my work?
While Legacy isn’t a gallery or online store for independent art sales, I can assist you in building and managing online exhibitions, pop-up shows, and home shows, as well as preparing for upcoming gallery exhibitions. I’ll help you refine your approach to selling your own art or connecting with galleries to represent you. As Legacy grows, I hope to expand opportunities to offer sales support for my clients’ work.
- Can you help me build and manage a website?
Yes! I love helping artists design and build sites that will help showcase your work and show off your personality. I work with Weebly and Square, Wordpress, Shopify, and FASO. But, if you're serious about growing your art business, I highly recommend my favorite - ARTCLOUD.
- Why Artcloud? It's kind of pricy compare to the other sites out there.
They say you get what you pay for—and Artcloud truly delivers. While options like Square or FASO might save you money, they don’t offer the comprehensive support your art business needs to thrive. Artcloud provides not only a powerful website platform but a complete management package: inventory tracking, gallery and client relations, invoicing, online sales, and analytics to monitor your growth. With everything in one place, you can say goodbye to scattered spreadsheets and documents and always know exactly what’s available and where.
- Will you do my social media for me?
Social media is an essential part of marketing yourself and your art—some might even call it a necessary evil. I can guide you in creating engaging posts and aligning your social media strategy with your goals, but please note: I don’t manage social media accounts directly.
- I'm not sure I'm good enough to be in a gallery. Will you critique my work?
Your dedication to your art shows that you’re continuing to grow and learn, which is a fantastic quality. While I don’t provide critiques, I can help you understand what galleries typically look for and guide you in presenting your work in the best possible way. Let’s focus on how to position your art to appeal to galleries and showcase your talent.
